A new bill at the Illinois statehouse may provide breweries another revenue source via home deliveries. Senate Bill 2193, sponsored by Sen. Ram Villivalam, would allow consumers to buy a limited number of cases of Illinois-made beer every year and have the beer delivered directly to their homes. Ray Stout, executive director of the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild, says home delivery is currently prohibited by Illinois’ 90-year-old liquor laws.
The change in the law would be particularly welcomed because Illinois’ 300 craft brewers are still hurting from the pandemic.
Stout says home delivery will help keep Illinois’ small brewers up and running.
