The Logan County Soil and Water Conservation District is anticipating receiving cost share funds from the Illinois Department of Agriculture later this year. Once those funds are received the District will offer a cost share program for conservation practices for the fall of 2022.
The SWCD will hold a concentrated sign-up period from March 28 to May 1. Applicants in need of grass waterways, grade stabilization structures, terraces or water and sediment control basins should apply at the District office at 1650 5th Street in Lincoln. Priority will be given to highly erodible land. Fields never having been planted to cover crops or no-till are also eligible to apply.
Applications will be ranked based on tons of soil saved, acres benefited and cost per acre. Approved applications will be awarded by August 1, and applicants will have until December 15, 2023 to complete the practice.
This cost share program may not be used in combination of any other state or federal cost share program.
