Dave MacDonna is the new executive director at Sangamon County Department of Community Resources. He began his new position on Sept. 14, replacing Sharmin Doering, who retired in January.

MacDonna was most recently the career development manager for Land of Lincoln Goodwill Industries. He has also worked as director of communication for both the Illinois’ Department of Veterans Affairs and Salvation Army.

The Sangamon County Department of Community Resources administers funds provided by the state to reduce poverty and revitalize low-income communities. The agency oversees a variety of programs, including rental assistance, housing counseling, weatherization and educational scholarships.

“It was a position I felt I could do well for the county,” said MacDonna. “I was honored and humbled to be chosen.”
