Gov. JB Pritzker’s Ready for the Fight PAC is sending $1.5 million to help Democrats win the Senate in Mississippi and Kansas — part of more than $40 million in spending the billionaire governor is doling out in the midterm elections and to Democratic causes to try to boost anti-Trump candidates and help Democrats win the House and Senate.
Pritzker is honorary chair of the PAC that was launched in September and vowed to spend $15 million to help Democrats in districts that President Donald Trump had previously won.
Republicans currently have a 53-47 majority in the Senate and 35 seats are up for election. Democrats must hold all of their seats and flip four GOP seats to take the Senate. In the House, Republicans have a 218-214 majority with 435 seats up for election.
The latest investments include a $1 million ad buy in the Mississippi U.S. Senate race, where Democrat Scott Colom, a district attorney, faces Republican Cindy Hyde-Smith, who blocked Colom’s nomination to be a federal judge during the Biden administration. In a sign that the race is competitive, Trump on Monday held a rally in Corinth, Mississippi to support Hyde-Smith. Polls conducted in August and October by Democratic pollsters showed Colom with a slight lead in a state that has the largest proportion of Black voters in the country.
Trump is also holding a rally in Salina, Kansas on Saturday, marking his second visit to the state in less than two weeks. The Associated Press reported that Colom attended Trump’s rally to listen to what was on GOP supporters’ minds.
“I’m here because Cindy’s doing great, but I just got to make sure. I can’t take a chance,” Trump said at the rally.
The PAC is also spending $500,000 in the Kansas U.S. Senate race, where Democrat Adam Hamilton faces incumbent Republican Sen. Roger Marshall. Polls are also showing the race is neck-to-neck.
The Ready for the Fight PAC is also funding voter mobilization efforts in Mississippi and South Carolina to help boost Democratic turnout and help candidates up and down the ballot.
The PAC says it’s investing in races that "national Democrats have historically overlooked." The latest spends follow the PAC’s advertising efforts targeting MAGA Republicans across the country, including House races in Texas, Arkansas, Alabama, New Mexico and Ohio.
Since 2025, Pritzker has given at least $40 million to Democrats and allied causes — including campaigns for the U.S. House and Senate, attorney general, secretary of state, county judges and state parties in more than a dozen states, as well as ballot fights over abortion rights and redistricting. That figure includes $15 million he contributed to Ready for the Fight.
Some of Pritzker’s largest contributions this cycle include $1.5 million to the Wisconsin Democratic Party, $1.2 million to Gina Hinojosa’s campaign for Texas governor, $1 million each to the Democratic Governors Association, Senate Majority PAC, Ohio Democratic Party, the House Majority PAC and Project Battleground, a leadership committee helping Keisha Lance Bottoms’ Georgia gubernatorial campaign. He also gave $310,000 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
Pritzker has spent more than $90.5 million to support his own reelection campaign for his third term. In total, Pritzker has given himself more than $439 million to support his three bids for governor. Forbes estimates Pritzker’s wealth at $4.2 billion.
