The MetroLink light rail system now finally connects Lambert St. Louis International Airport to MidAmerica St. Louis Airport in St. Clair County.  Local, state and federal officials attended a celebration and ribbon cutting last week to mark the opening of the new 5.2 mile segment. 

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker was there and thanked all those who had a hand in its expansion, especially former Congressman Jerry Costello, who has been a longtime advocate of the airport and of light rail into the Metro East:

The new MetroLink extension station is located across from the MidAmerica St. Louis Airport terminal and parking lot. It’s the first full MetroLink expansion in approximately 20 years.
