A report by Illinois’ Legislative Inspector General says disgraced former Democratic State Rep. Harry Benton violated state law by committing acts of sexual harassment.

Benton resigned earlier this month.

The report details several incidents that eventually led to Benton’s resignation earlier this month. But House Speaker Emanuel "Chris" Welch is still facing questions about how his office handled an initial complaint about Benton’s behavior, back in 2023.
