SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS/WRSP) — Three new laws aimed at supporting veterans and military service members in Illinois have been signed into law.
One measure creates a program to help recruit members to the Illinois National Guard.
A second law requires Illinois colleges and universities to readmit students who take academic leave to serve in the National Guard or U.S. Reserves.
The third expands access to clinical drug trials for veterans seeking treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and anxiety.
All three laws take effect Jan. 1, 2027.
