Staying true to his word that one, ten-year term was enough, Frank Mautino of Spring Valley is officially no longer Illinois’ auditor general.
The longtime Democratic politician handed the keys to his office over to new Auditor General Christopher Meister last week. Mautino thanked his Springfield staff by saying online “I have to say that I learned more from them than they learned from me and that’s what made this last decade a tremendous success”.
The Legislative Audit Commission this week recognized Mautino who served as auditor general since 2016. Before that, he was in the Illinois House from 1991 until 2015.
