Former Danville area U.S. Representative Terry Bruce passed away at age 82; in Springfield on April 17th. Bruce, a Democrat, defeated GOP incumbent Dan Crane in the November, 1984 General Election. Bruce represented Illinois’ 19th Congressional District from January 3, 1985 to January 3, 1993. He was unsuccessful for renomination in 1992, losing the primary to fellow incumbent and future gubernatorial nominee Glenn Poshard, when their districts were effectively merged in redistricting.
