Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker has announced two appointments to Illinois organizations – pending confirmation by the Illinois Senate to boards and commissions – and one is a Quad Cities mayor, according to a news release.

Moline Mayor Sangeetha Rayapati will serve as a member of the Illinois Workforce Innovation Board. Rayapati, who is mayor of Moline, also is an instructor at Augustana College, wher eshe teaches Music Department classes, as well as courses offered through the Augustana Prison Education Program. Before serving as mayor, Rayapati was president and vice president of the Moline-Coal Valley School Board.
She is a 2020 recipient of the YWCA’s Race against Racism Award and the Love Girls 2025 Legacy Award, a graduate of the 2025 APAICS National Leadership Academy, a 2023 Edgar Fellow, and a 2020 graduate of the Illinois Women’s Institute for Leadership Training Academy. She serves on the boards of several Quad Cities organizations, including United Way QC, Visit Quad Cities, and Rock Island Arsenal Defense Alliance. Rayapati earned a bachelor of science in nursing and a bachelor of music from Valparaiso University, and she earned both her master’s degree and her doctor of arts in music from the University of Minnesota.
Aur Beck will serve as a Member of the Energy Workforce Advisory Council. Beck is an advocate for renewable energy and founder of advanced energy solutions in Carterville. Additionally, he is a licensed journeyman electrician and a member of IBEW 702. He currently serves as founder and board member of the Illinois Renewable Energy Association.
