State Rep. Natalie Manley, D-Joliet, spoke at the Will County Farm Bureau Legislative Barn Meeting July 28.
Will County Farm Bureau Governmental Affairs Chair Rick Johnson asked Manley, along with seven other representatives and senators, questions about issues relevant to the farm bureau.
“What farmers grow right here in Will County feeds the world,” Manley said. “I support the Family Farms Preservation Act, along with other farm-centric legislation, because protecting family farms is critical to not only sustaining Illinois agriculture, but also the state’s overall economy.”
Other topics included transparency in the legislative process, solar development, soil and water conservation district budget, and the Peotone airport.
The other legislators who attended included state Sen. Meg Loughran Cappel, state Rep. Anthony DeLuca, state Sen. Laura Ellman, state Sen. Patrick Joyce, state Rep. Dagmara Avelar, and a representative from state Sen.Chris Bulkema’s office.
The event was held at the Dave Kestle Farm in Manhattan. Pork chops were served.
