Members of the BLET represented their union and the craft of locomotive engineer at the Illinois State Fair earlier this month in Springfield, Illinois.

The Illinois State AFL-CIO has a permanent labor pavilion at the state fairgrounds where different labor unions are welcome to host tables and inform the public about unions and their role in the economy.

Cory Martin, Chairman of the BLET Illinois State Legislative Board, said he and fellow BLET members used the opportunity to talk about the state’s transit funding crisis, but mainly talked to members of the public about rail safety. “We had a presentation regarding emergency notification signs, and we let them know who the BLET is and what we do, and how locomotive engineers work to keep their communities safe.”
