QCA school districts receive $11M for evidence-based learning

Several QCA school districts will receive an additional $11 million in funding from the state for evidence-based learning.

“Evidence-based funding is one of the true bright spots we have accomplished here in Illinois,” said Sen. Mike Halpin (D-Rock Island). “Our schools are the key to a healthy community and a bright future. We are making sure our state dollars are put to work aiding the schools that need it most.”

Halpin is an advocate for evidence-based funding as a way to create a targeted and equitable funding model that supports K-12 education. The law makes funding more equitable by providing state revenue based on individual school district needs. Several factors are considered when deciding which districts receive funding, including poverty rate, enrollment, special education and English language learners.

These school districts in Western Illinois will receive evidence-based funding this coming fiscal year:

  • Hancock/Fulton/Schuyler/McDonough Regional Office Of Education – Regional Safe School Program: $9,196
  • Hancock/Fulton/Schuyler/McDonough Regional Office Of Education – Alternative Learning Opportunities Programs: $482,581
  • Colona School District 190: $36,226
  • Orion Community Unit School District 223: $35,841
  • Henderson/Knox/Mercer/Warren Regional Office Of Education – Truant’s Alternative And Optional Education Program: $41,854
  • Henderson/Knox/Mercer/Warren Regional Office Of Education – Regional Safe School Program: $20
  • Henderson/Knox/Mercer/Warren Regional Office Of Education – Alternative Learning Opportunity Program: $191,158
  • Knoxville Community Unit School District 202: $52,816
  • Galesburg Community Unit School District 205: $580,315
  • Monmouth-Roseville: $444,645
  • United Community Unit School District 304: $16,819
  • Rock Island Roe – Regional Safe School Program: $476
  • Hampton School District 29: $20,926
  • United Township High School District 30: $1,538,843
  • Silvis School District 34: $150,848
