State Rep. Daniel Didech (D-59th) announced he will seek a fifth term representing the 59th District in the Illinois House of Representatives.

He will seek the Democratic Party’s nomination at the primary election on March 17, 2026.

First elected in 2018, Didech has helped pass legislation to reduce gun violence. He voted to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, protect reproductive freedom, defend the rights of LGBTQ+ individuals, and expand protections for immigrants and refugees. He also backed more than $2.5 billion in new annual investments for public schools and secured hundreds of millions of dollars to reduce flooding and modernize local infrastructure.

“I know how to get results, and I’m not finished yet,” Didech said. “With people’s rights under attack by an out-of-control federal government, it’s important that we continue to have experienced, proven leadership in Springfield. Our community and our values are worth fighting for, and I am excited to keep delivering for the Lake County and northern Cook County region.”

Didech’s campaign committee recently reported more than $340,000 cash on hand.

The 59th District includes portions of Buffalo Grove, Vernon Hills, Mundelein, Wheeling, Lincolnshire, Park City, Green Oaks, Libertyville, Mettawa, Indian Creek, Waukegan and unincorporated areas of Vernon Township and Fremont Township.
