CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – Former Illinois State Senator Ken Buzbee has passed away.
Buzbee, a Democrat, was first elected to the state senate in 1972, where he served on several powerful committees, including Appropriations and Higher Education.
In 1984, he chose not to seek re-election to the senate in order to run for Congress. Buzbee lost that primary election to the late Ken Gray.
Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale is handling final arrangements. Kenneth Buzbee was 87.
