Aurora State Senator Linda Holmes says her office is working on bills for the spring legislative session now underway in Springfield.

Among them is a bill to ban the practice of declawing cats.

"We’re in the process right now of filing it so I’m not sure what all is going to actually come out. I do have one that has been another somewhat of a topic that generates some interest, which is the one to prohibit the ability to de-claw cats," Holmes said.

Holmes says the practice is already banned in some other states and countries.

She also notes that bills must be drafted by Friday.

Holmes is re-filing her Medical Aid in Dying legislation, which was proposed during the previous General Assembly.
