SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (NEXSTAR) — An organized push from multiple labor groups could result in big changes for the state’s pension system.
In 2010, the state created the tier 2 level for pensions. State worker’s, teachers and all other employees with state supported pension that started in 2011 and after were suddenly looking at scaled back benefits compared to tier 1 pension holders. Now, 14 years later, labor groups like the AFL-CIO say those differences are even more noticeable.
Pat Devaney with the AFL-CIO joined Capitol Connection to discuss the push to reform the Tier 2 system ahead of a scheduled rally at the Capitol Wednesday.
