PEORIA HEIGHTS, Ill. (WMBD) — Democratic house caucus chair Pete Aguilar joined congressman Eric Sorensen at W. E Sullivans in Peoria Heights for a walk and talk.
They went through neighborhoods, knocking on doors, and encouraging people to vote.
Sorensen said he’s doing the groundwork to get the everyday voters’ opinion on what they want to see changed on a congressional level.
"I’m the one that is going to go and knock on doors. We’ve got dozens and dozens of people here that are going to knock on doors, get people out to vote. All the while, my opponent is going to have his $ 250-a-plate dinner with the speaker of the house tomorrow. Well, you know, what we’re going to be doing here today is we’re talking with our neighbors. We’re talking with the real people, as opposed to just the wealthy people that are going to sit down with fancy china in front of them," said Sorensen.
House Speaker Mike Johnson is also in town this weekend. He’s the keynote speaker at a fundraiser for republican candidate Joe McGraw.
