TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – Select mental health resources are getting a boost of support in Indiana and Illinois.

It’s through the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) Medicaid Demonstration Program.

The program provides reimbursement through Medicaid for the full cost of services at a greater rate than centers previously received for Medicaid customers. Essentially, CCBHCs must provide service for anyone requesting it, regardless of age, ability to pay, or location.

Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics must provide service for anyone requesting it, regardless of age, ability to pay, or location.

"Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics have significantly improved behavioral health treatment in our country, and today’s announcement will dramatically expand and improve access to equitable, quality care for Americans with serious mental health and substance use treatment needs," said U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recently announced it has developed the proper infrastructure to take on 10 new states, including Indiana and Illinois.

Hamilton Center is one of eight organizations selected to demonstrate the new model in Indiana. Through the program, Hamilton Center will be expanding services in eight Wabash Valley counties.

  • Parke
  • Vermillion
  • Vigo
  • Clay
  • Putnam
  • Sullivan
  • Greene
  • Owen

As a CCBHC, Hamilton Center, Inc. will:

  • Respond through Mobile Crisis to behavioral health and addiction emergencies in the community
  • Enhance 24/7/365 crisis stabilization services throughout West Central Indiana
  • Integrate with the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (988)
  • Coordinate primary healthcare needs

There are 15 organizations in Illinois that received this designation. A vast majority are near or in Chicago, Springfield, and the St. Louis area.

If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available by calling or texting 988 or via chat at 988lifeline.org
