State Senators Rachel Ventura and Ram Villivalam joined members of SEIU and AFSCME 31 in asking the General Assembly for a fair wage for direct service personnel (DSPs) – folks that work with people that have developmental disabilities.

A recent report showed that in order to hire and retain DSPs, the State would need to allocate a wage that is 150% of the minimum wage. Currently, the money appropriated falls about $3 per hour per worker short.
