A proposed Illinois bill could impact how tipped employees get paid.
Food industry business owners, employees and members of the community came together to voice their concerns over Illinois’s efforts to remove the sub-minimum wage. QCA restaurants fear they wouldn’t survive the passage of this bill, and some servers believe they would end up making less money. Others expressed removing the sub-minimum wage for tipped workers would provide a steadier income for them.
Illinois State Senator Mike Halpin says this is not a clear-cut issue, and he hopes to find a balanced solution that protects workers and businesses.
