Rep. Moeller’s Reading by the River event will feature storytime at the Library offered in both English and Spanish. Amber Peters and Andrea Vargas from the Elgin Partnership for Early Learning will offer readings. Participants will be able to use a pinwheel craft station and coloring books, and receive a storybook to take home and enjoy.

Rep. Moeller said the event is important to help the community appreciate the struggles some in the community face from child abuse that can be preventable.

“Every child should be able to grow up in a safe, loving environment, but child abuse and neglect are painful reminders that too many children grow up in fear and pain,” Rep. Moeller said. “Our Reading by the River event helps youth build stronger relationships and understanding of what it means to grow up safe and free from that fear and pain. We hope everyone can come out and join us for a day of fellowship and education."
