An Illinois state’s attorney says Illinois’ Pretrial Fairness Act that ends cash bail statewide needs additional reforms.
Illinois recently became the first state in the nation to end money bail after a protracted legal fight.
While there has been positive acclimation about the legislation from various corners of the state, not all are happy of course.
State’s Attorney Jordan Garrison of Macoupin County says the law is causing problems with who can and can not be held pretrial.
The Pretrial Fairness Act prevents state’s attorneys from jailing individuals facing certain charges while they await trial; Garrison said he’s looking for some changes to the law from state legislators.
