(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — In all the headlines about finding shelter for the migrants who continue to be sent to Chicago from elsewhere, you haven’t heard much about the CHA.

There’s a reason for that, the agency’s boss says.

Chicago Housing Authority CEO Tracy Scott says her agency provides what she calls ”stable” housing, while the city of Chicago provides emergency shelter for the thousands of asylum seekers who continue to arrive in here.

She says because most of the CHA’s funds come from federal sources, the regulations specify they cannot be used for people who don’t qualify for such money.

But Scott said the CHA has been indirectly helping by providing money to other agencies and organizations that help the homeless.

She spoke Wednesday after a groundbreaking for an affordable housing project in Logan Square.
