Chicago Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson announced his leadership team on Wednesday, providing a glimpse into the way his future administration will run the city as he continues to assemble senior staff.
Johnson’s transition director will be Jessica Angus, vice president and chief of staff since 2008 at SEIU Healthcare Illinois, one of the key unions to support his run early on. His senior advisors will be campaign manager Jason Lee, a former investment banker who has worked with progressive unions, and Amisha Patel, former executive director of grassroots collaborative at Grassroots Illinois Action.

Johnson will rely on Erica Bland-Durosinmi and DJavan Conway as intergovernmental advisors. Bland-Durosinmi is executive vice president at SEIU Healthcare, while Conway leads Conway Consulting Group, a firm that advises businesses, and is also a former staffer for indicted former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan. Johnson’s legal advisor is Maria Virginia Martinez, who works at law firm Croke Fairchild Duarte & Beres and previously served under Mayor Lori Lightfoot.
Johnson announced the moves as he continues his selection process for top city officials, including a chief of staff.
