Illinois dentists want state lawmakers to pass new rules and regulations to ensure that most of the money you pay for dental insurance actually goes toward patient care.
The Illinois State Dental Society is rolling out a package of bills, including one that would require 80% of premiums to go toward direct care – rather than to administrative costs, salaries or profits.
Any insurer that did not meet the 80% threshold would have to refund the difference to participants in the plan.
The dental society is urging patients to contact their lawmakers and ask them to support the package of bills.
