500 More Apartments Approved For Fox Valley Mall Reimagining – Patch

AURORA, IL — Aurora City Council approved a proposal to build more than 500 new residential units at Fox Valley Mall, adding to the 300 apartments soon to open as part of the “Reimagining Fox Valley” renovation, officials said.

Of the total units, 323 will belong to a four-story luxury apartment community that will include a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments. The community will also have multiple amenity spaces, outdoor gathering areas and a parking garage with direct access to the building.

The other 211 units will be part of a five-story senior living center. The space will offer independent and assisted living, memory care services and concierge services, including weekly housekeeping, dry cleaning, transportation, therapy services and an on-site health and wellness program.

The latest development marks the start of phase two of the project just as phase one prepares to open next month, according to Clayton Muhammad, Aurora’s chief communication officer.

To make room for the latest addition, “massive” site preparation work has begun in the parking lot on the north side of the mall as well as an adjacent retail area between Round 1 Entertainment and Macy’s.

In November, city officials will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the phase one opening of the new Lumen of Fox Valley on the mall’s east side. Located on the site of the former Sears, Lumen is a three-building residential community with 304 units ranging from studios to one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments.

Lumen apartments are currently leasing, with move-in dates as early as November.
