Six local candidates for state of Illinois elective offices will square-off next Wednesday, Oct. 26 in Des Plaines City Hall at 7 p.m. for a debate on the issues and to inform voters of the reasons for their candidacies.

Residents and readers of the Journal & Topics are invited to submit questions of the contenders they would like to be considered.

The candidates who will appear before a crowd of up to 100 people in the city’s council chambers are state representative hopefuls Democrat Marty Moylan and Republican Mike Lupo who are running for the 55th House District spot, Democrat Michelle Mussman and Republican E. Dale Litney who are running for the 56th District House seat, and Democrat Laura Murphy and Republican Sal Raspanti, candidates for the 28th District State Senate spot.

The event is sponsored by the Journal & Topics.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 8. During the debate, candidates will be asked questions about their reasons for running and their qualifications. The 90-minute event will be televised on Des Plaines cable TV channel 17.

The 56th District includes a large section of Des Plaines from near Wolf Road west to Elmhurst Road and a large part of Elk Grove Village. The 55th House District includes most of Des Plaines east of Wolf Road and a large section of Park Ridge. The 28th Senate boundaries are a combination of the 55th and 56th districts.
