Tharp presents school supplies

State Sen. Kris Tharp, D-Bethalto, on Tuesday delivered school supplies to the Madison County Child Advocacy Center in Wood River.

Tharp praised the center, citing for his past experience with the office as a police investigator.

"The Madison County Child Advocacy Center and its incredible staff provide a safe, caring, and professional environment for children affected by abuse," he said. "As a detective assigned to investigate crimes against children I witnessed firsthand the profound positive impact our CAC has on protecting children, supporting their families, and working in lockstep with area law enforcement and prosecutors in the pursuit of justice."

Tharp thanked Carrie Cohan and her staff for the opportunity to participate in the drive and give back to children served by the CAC. Donated items included backpacks, lunch boxes, crayons, markers, glue bottles, notebooks, art boxes and colored pencils.

"It is inspiring to see how the CAC without fail puts children first while working tirelessly with area stakeholders and families during the most trying of times," Tharp stated.
