Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton on Monday visited Western Illinois University where she talked with education students and faculty. It’s all a part of her statewide tour focused on addressing the state’s teacher shortage. A 2021 survey led by the Illinois Association of Regional Superintendents of Schools found found 88% of the responding 663 districts believe they had a teacher shortage problem. “We know this teacher shortage did not begin during this pandemic,” Stratton said.
