Politics at the pump: Democrats’ election-year plan to pause gas tax hike sparks backlash from station owners


Democrats plan to require signs on gas pumps advertising that the tax increase over 2 cents a gallon scheduled for July 1 has been postponed until January. Gas retailers are balking, and Republicans who went along with the plan still say it’s all about election year politics.
