Advocates for the elderly are praising the passage of legislation that reforms state reimbursements for nursing home care.
The measure links reimbursement rates to various safety measures, including staffing levels and quality of care at a given facility.
The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services says the new legislation will improve the level of care for more than 45,000 nursing home residents across the state.
