Illinois lawmakers are urging social media companies to step up and take down digital hate speech from their platforms. State Senators Laura Fine and Ram Villivalam and representatives fromthe Simon Wiesenthal Center held a press conference Thursday denouncing the rise in hate speech. “This hateful rhetoric can lead to irrational hatred and discrimination toward groups of people and incite violence against those targeted,” Senator Fine said.
