State Lawmaker Promotes Bill To Designate April 18th ‘Republic Of Ireland Day’

A state lawmaker is pushing a bill that, if enacted, would bring recognition to Ireland in Illinois. Officials say Illinois State Senator Laura Murphy is pushing the measure, House Bill 4811, that seeks to designate April 18th as ‘Republic of Ireland Day.’ It reportedly would call for a proclamation from the governor designating official events to honor the day. Authorities say the bill is awaiting review in the Senate State Government committee.
