Congresswoman Lauren Underwood has begun introducing herself to people in northern LaSalle County, which was drawn into a new 14th Congressional district. During her first visit to Ottawa, she went to Fox River Park for a drive-through ballot petition signature event today.
The Naperville Democrat says she ran for Congress after former Cong. Randy Hultgren said in 2017 that he wouldn’t support a particular health care bill and then changed his mind. Underwood says the bill would have made it harder for people with preexisting conditions to pay for health care coverage.
Underwood says she’s worked on both sides of the aisle to get bills passed under Pres. Trump and Pres. Biden.
