Pritzker working remotely following exposure to state employee with COVID-19

CHICAGO, Ill. – Illinois Governor JB Pritzker will be working remotely the rest of the week.

Pritzker’s office says the Governor came “in close contact” on Tuesday with a state employee who has tested positive for COVID-19, and the remote work through Sunday will be done “out of an abundance of caution.”

The state provided no other details about what might have happened, but does say Pritzker tested negative for COVID as early as Wednesday morning. Pritzker also is fully vaccinated and has received a booster shot.

“With the Omicron variant spreading across the state, the governor is taking extra precautions to prevent the spread of the virus,” according to a statement from the Governor’s office.

The state is still urging people to stay at home if they feel sick or if they come in close contact with someone who has contracted the virus.
