(Grayslake, IL) A veteran state Senator from Lake County has decided not to seek re-election. Melinda Bush says she will, however, finish out her current term which ends in January of 2023. Bush was first elected to the state Senate in 2013, defeating Republican Joe Neal by about 2-thousand votes in the 31st District. Bush didn’t give a specific reason for stepping aside, but said it’s time for someone else to step into the role. The 65-year-old did say that she currently has no aspirations for higher office.
