David Moore is Following in Jesse White’s Footsteps in Support of Youth (Chicago, IL) – “I am excited by the creative ways the position I seek can encourage the contributions of
our young people to Illinois on many levels,” says Secretary of State candidate David
Moore.

“I saw a good example in action at Woori Taekwondo and Hapkido Academy’s Kick for the Cure,” where students demonstrated skills and leadership learned through martial arts and have helped raise over $100,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Moore joined Secretary of State Jesse White and Woori Grandmaster Kwan Pil Kim at the recent event in Matteson. White has attended all eight of the fundraisers, bringing along his nationally acclaimed young gymnastic tumblers, since Kim created Kick in 2012. White and the Cook County Board of Commissioners have honored Kim for his “community and youth education efforts.”

If Elected

If elected, Moore plans to establish a Jesse White Youth Engagement Office in the state’s over 120 driver facilities via a public-private partnership, to further the legacy of support for organizations like Woori. He also wants to foster youth’s civic responsibility as voters, drivers, businesspeople and organ donors.

On the education front, Moore notes the Secretary of State oversees the coordination and information network for approximately 4,300 academic, public, school and special libraries throughout Illinois. He vows to continue the award of over $40 million in grants for programs in such areas as literacy, autism, improvement in basic life skills for families, equal library access for disadvantaged and rural areas, as well as enhancing technology to increase service delivery and a more “fun” reading experience.

Alderman Moore spent his childhood in the Robert Taylor Homes, before moving to the Englewood and Auburn-Gresham communities. Upon completing Simeon Vocational High School, he graduated from Western Illinois University with a dual major in accounting and operations management. He earned an MA with emphasis in government studies at Loyola University-Chicago.

Moore established a successful accounting career in the private sector at several Fortune 500 companies, as well as with Chicago’s Department of Aviation, Chicago Housing Authority and he served as an assistant to the commissioner of the Cook County Board of Review, coordinating the Faith-based and Community Initiatives.
