State Sen. Meg Loughran Cappel will host an event next week in Joliet for constituents to give feedback on state issues.
The Coffee and Conversation event will take place Tuesday in Room F of the Joliet Public Library Black Road Branch, located at 3395 Black Road in Joliet, according to a news release.
“We had a busy veto session and discussed many issues important to residents of the 49th District,” Loughran Cappel, D-Shorewood, said in the release. “I look forward to meet and chat with people across our community about what we accomplished and what the future holds.”
This past year, the General Assembly took up several significant pieces of legislation, including the passage of an energy bill aiming to put the state on a path to 100% renewable energy and preserving nuclear power plant operations.
Lawmakers also passed new state and congressional district maps, which Republicans and others have taken issue with.
Loughran Cappel’s office also is collecting items to benefit Guardian Angel Community Services. Residents can drop off donations during the event or at her district office at 2009 S. Route 59 in Plainfield through Nov. 30.
Her office is collecting items in high demand like women’s winter jackets in all sizes, children’s and women’s gloves, hats and scarves, mini first aid kits and women’s long sleeve T-shirts.
For information on the event, those interested in attending or donating can contact Loughran Cappel’s Plainfield office at 815-267-6119 or go to SenatorLoughranCappel.com.
