Precious Brady-Davis announces MWRD candidacy

Prominent local trans figure Precious Brady-Davis announced her candidacy for Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD) commissioner.

The announcement comes in the wake of President Joe Biden appointing out now-former Commissioner Debra Shore as the next Region Five administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency, representing six states in the Midwest and the lands of 35 federally recognized tribes.

“It is with great elation I announce I am putting my hat in the ring to serve as a Commissioner on the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District in the seat the great Debra Shore served on for 15 years and has now vacated due to being appointed as the Region 5 EPA Administrator by President Biden,” Brady-Davis posted.

“As a public advocate with over 15 years experience I am prepared and ready to serve the people of Greater Chicago in order to preserve the right and access to clean and healthy water for all,” she added.

Brady-Davis has been involved with the grassroots environmental movement known as Sierra Club for more than four years; she is currently the organization’s associate regional communications director.

She is not the only member of the LGBTQ+ community vying to succeed Shore. Longtime activist Rick Garcia has asked Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker to appoint him to the seat.
