PEORIA (WEEK) – A secretary at Richwoods High School in Peoria has resigned for her alleged involvement in a video that featured a racial slur.
Courtney Lewis’ resignation was confirmed to 25 News on Tuesday by Mary Fran Wessler, president of the union representing the school district’s support staff.
Lewis was previously on administrative leave after a video surfaced depicting a woman with students around her as she uses the N-word.
Earlier this month, Peoria Public Schools board president Greg Wilson said it’s unacceptable that someone working in a predominately African American school district like PPS would use the racial slur.
The board president said at the time he wanted students to know the N-word should never be used.
