Op-ed: People with mental health struggles get trapped in our criminal court system. Here’s why that must change.


There tends to be a shortage of empathy when it comes to people in the court system. When we allow punishment to dominate the narrative of “justice,” we allow people who need mental health help to slip through the cracks and get stuck in a system that was not built to help them.
