After multiple reports of the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) mailing out full social security numbers to the wrong claimants, Illinois lawmakers have now made that illegal. As part of the unemployment omnibus bill that passed through the General Assembly unanimously last week, state agencies and departments will no longer be able to print, mail, or send social security numbers of Illinoisans.
