Many state agencies will see post-pandemic budget cuts, but the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) isn’t one of them. DCFS is one of the few that will see a budget boost — over $100 million. This puts the agency’s expected budget at $1. 5 billion next year, but the department is also anticipating an increase in workload. That means more investigations and more youth in care.
