Bill aims to regulate books read in Illinois schools

Lawmakers are aiming to place more oversight on the books your child reads in school. A new bill would require more diverse authors of any books used in school lessons. School boards would also have to approve or deny any books that are a part of a course or assigned reading lists. The goal of the legislation is to prevent biased or racist literature from being read in public or charter schools.
