Illinois Comptroller Susana Mendoza is renewing her call to close a loophole in state law that could allow a former state representative… who served less than three days in office… to claim an entire month’s pay.
Under state law, a state lawmaker is entitled to a full month’s salary for working any portion of that month… even just one day. Mendoza says that provision was used by several lawmakers who resigned after being indicted for crimes to pad their pay on the way out the door.
She’s calling for former Representative Edward Kodatt to refuse the 58-hundred-dollar paycheck… and says lawmakers should move to end the perk for everyone in the legislature.
