Kodatt resignation fuels controversy, discussion of ‘No Exit Bonus’ bill

On Sunday, former House Speaker Michael Madigan hand-picked Rep. Edward Guerra Kodatt, D-Chicago, to replace him as representative of the 22nd District. Less than three days later, Kodatt has formally resigned. According to Illinois law, Kodatt is entitled to get paid for the entire month of February, despite only working for two days. “It’s outrageous. It’s unacceptable to me,” Illinois Comptroller Susana Mendoza said.
