The Illinois Department of Labor will move its Springfield office a half-mile north to a site across the street from the Capitol Complex by the end of March, state officials said Wednesday.

The move from rented space at 900 S. Spring St. to rented space on the fourth floor of the Lincoln Tower Plaza office building, 524 S. Second St., will provide more area for needed training facilities and offices and come with a lower cost, officials said.

“Our new office setting will serve our employees and the public well,” Department of Labor director Michael Kleinik said in a news release. “The building is located near the Capitol and close to other governmental offices that the department regularly works with.”
