Illinois House Speaker Chris Welch, D-Westchester, is ready to turn a new leaf in the Illinois House of Representatives. It’s a fresh start and a brand new chapter, after Michael Madigan’s reign of nearly 40 years. Speaker Welch said the time we’re in is a battle within itself. Across the state of Illinois we’re dealing with a global pandemic, billion-dollar budget deficit, redistricting, and a legislature people haven’t trusted for years.
