Another big shakeup in the Illinois General Assembly… Democratic state senator Andy Manar has announced that he will resign his seat effective January 17^th.

Governor JB Pritzker’s office says Manar will join the administration as a senior advisor on issues ranging from downstate economic revitalization to COVID-19 recovery efforts.  In the statement, Manar says he’s proud of what he’s accomplished in his eight years in the Senate, but says it’s time for someone new to take up the call.

Democratic county chairmen in the six counties that make up the 48^th Senate District, including Sangamon County, will name a replacement for Manar.
